North King Size Bed
The Bed Upgrade You Notice at 2:00 AM
There’s a moment that happens on real trips — not showroom tours.
It’s the middle of the night. Someone needs to step out of bed for the restroom… or a quick snack. In a lot of rigs, that’s when the “layout on paper” meets real life.
That’s exactly why Tiger Adventure Vehicles added a new option that sounds simple but changes the feel of the whole night: a north–south king bed configuration for the Panthera 240.
Why Bed Orientation Matters More Than People Think
In the north–south configuration, your head is toward the truck side and your feet are toward the camper/pass-through side. The “win” isn’t just comfort — it’s flow.
When you can get out of bed without climbing over someone, you sleep better. You travel better. And you stop treating the rig like a puzzle every night.
This is the kind of upgrade that comes from watching how people actually use their overland rig day after day — and then letting the design team build a cleaner solution.
The Setup: Simple, Fast, Repeatable
Tiger’s goal here wasn’t to add complexity. It was to make the nightly routine smoother.
- Pull the drawer mechanism out
- Flip/fold the panel and slide the custom mattress section down
- Drop the slide-out ladder for access
Morning reset: reverse the steps, stow it, and you’re rolling.
And for anyone wondering about bedding: it fits standard king bedding.

“But Does It Mess Up Storage?”
This question always comes up, and it’s a fair one.
Tiger’s note: the king bed option doesn’t eliminate cabinetry, but it does extend slightly over the countertop/entry door area, so you may need to move larger items during conversion.
That tradeoff is intentional — because the benefit shows up every single night you’re out in the backcountry.
Built for Real Overlanding, Not Just a Weekend Loop
This bed option is one piece of a bigger theme: Tiger keeps refining the Tigers to fit your needs as a true expedition camper and long-range adventure RV — especially for people who travel off-grid, often.
And in the Panthera 240, it pairs nicely with what already makes the coach feel “ready” for real travel:
- The Panthera 240 includes an overhead queen bed size and headroom specs, with the north–south king bed listed as an option
- The platform is designed around off-grid comfort (power systems, heating, insulation, water) so your routine stays consistent even when your location doesn’t
More New Panthera 240 Updates Worth Noting
The bed upgrade didn’t happen in isolation. Tiger has been rolling out practical refinements that improve day-to-day living without reinventing what already works. Recent Panthera 240 updates include:
- Larger Arctic Tern windows in the living area
- A fold-down roof ladder and expanded exterior storage options
- More modern cabinetry, including lightweight aluminum options with soft-close drawers
These are the kinds of details that matter when your rig is your basecamp — whether you call it an off-road camper, a 4×4 camper, or one of the more capable overlanding vehicles out there.
The Part Tiger Doesn’t Change (On Purpose)
One thing Tiger has been consistent about: the interior layout stays proven. Every build is customized to the owner — finishes, options, exterior features, and capability choices — but the core layout remains stable because it keeps working year after year. That’s a big deal in the world of off-road RV vehicles, where “new” sometimes means “new problems.” Tiger’s approach is: keep the foundation dependable, then refine the parts that improve real travel routines.
